“なんかダル、なんか出る”

Date: 12/28/11

Location: Akihabara – Tokyo Tower

Self-explanatory entry. Lots of pictures, not so much text! Akihabara is the original Den-den Town [Osaka’s equivalent district], a haven for all the otaku of the world and all the gaming/anime/figure goods that make up that universe.

– I went to Taito station in Akihabara and played this rhythm game called Jubeat. [Previously I’d been calling it “the cube game”] It is sort of like DDR except you use your hands to hit lighted squares. Sounds simple enough, but people get super into it and crazy. I think I’m just going to have to embed a video of someone playing. It was actually super fun and I feel like I won’t be able to find it in America ;_;

Akihabara! Maid cafes where you can pay girls dressed as maids a lot of money for them to talk nice with you and feed you omelette-rice! [I didn’t go, haha] Random computer gaming fair where you could try out the newest in online gaming, including a booth from NVidia where you could try their 3D monitors. [I also accidentally ran into Sharon and Sara from my Japanese class here. Small world.] The Gundam Cafe! Where you can eat surrounded by giant robot models woo! And Superpotato, where you can buy pretty much everything retro including NES, Sega Saturn, PS1, and Dreamcast games! As a casual gamer and anime-watcher, this district was super amusing.

– And then we went to Pokemon Center Tokyo :D I was glad to see as many grown adults there as there were children. Hurr hurr.

– Afterwards there was Tokyo Tower, a replica of the Eiffel Tower that exceeds the original in height by about 3 meters. It was supposed to represent the era of rebuilding after World War II or so I hear. I don’t think it’ll be able to beat my Eiffel Tower picture, but this one is pretty good too.

– And lastly we had the Winter Illuminations at Caretta Blue Forest. Revvin’ up for New Year, everybody.
